Improve the performance of your people and you will in turn improve the performance of your organisation, sounds too easy perhaps, but if this performance enhancement is focused towards the goals of your company then why shouldn’t it work.  Consider some ideas:

Recognise

Every organisation from the local company employing 10 to the multinational employing hundreds will have some objectives for the business over the next 3-5 years or more.

1. Communicate these objectives to all employees.

2. Allocate key objectives to each employee ensuring that they all fit together and meet the objectives of the company.

3. Ensure your managers or supervisors are skilled and experienced enough to be able to differentiate between someone who is meeting these objectives and someone who isn’t.

4. Ensure this recognition or assessment is captured in writing; it then becomes a fantastic tool for future professional and personal development for the individual.  Don’t try and write war & peace one side of A4 is sufficient for most appraisals.

5. Once you’ve recognised performance and differentiated between good and not so good, you need to consider how to reward the best performers.
